JIRA/Confluence deal benefits charity

The folks at Atlassian are running a cool deal: $5 for JIRA and Confluence, and proceeds go to Room to Read, which establishes schools and libraries around the world.

I don’t know about you, but I know this issue is always in the back of my head. There’s a nagging feeling that we’re doing it wrong, that there are some leaps forward we’re missing, that we’re still stuck in 1984.

I feel as if it’s my responsibility as a software developer to help figure out what comes after the desktop metaphor, and I feel a little bad that we haven’t delivered it yet.
