Changes since 2.1b30
NewsGator Syncing: no error sheet if offline
In the previous beta, NetNewsWire displayed an error message in a sheet if NewsGator couldn’t be contacted. If you were offline, this wasn’t really needed—and now the sheet doesn’t appear if you’re offline.
NewsGator Syncing: two years free for existing users
All existing NetNewsWire users get two years paid subscription for free—and they get all updates to NetNewsWire during those two years. Even if we release 3.0, 4.0, 63.0, whatever.
After the two years are up, your copy of NetNewsWire will continue to work. This is not subscription software, where the app itself stops working.
This release handles getting existing users their two years free. There’s an embedded web page window that opens when you launch NetNewsWire—it shouldn’t do much except tell you your serial number and thank you for your business. Then you’re finished—just click the Close button. Your account has been upgraded.
If you don’t already have a NewsGator account, but are an existing NetNewsWire user, it will help you create an account, then tell you all’s well and thanks.
This same web-page-window handles cases for people new to NetNewsWire who want to run it as a trial.
If you run into problems, please report them, of course. This is a beta, and bugs are possible. Note that this release is coming on a Friday evening, and we thank you in advance for being patient with any support questions over the weekend. Thanks!
