Editing TypePad Weblogs
This page describes how to configure NetNewsWire so you can edit your TypePad weblog with NetNewsWire.
Add Weblog
In NetNewsWire, open the Preferences window and click the Weblogs button at the top of the window. Then click the Add Weblog button—or click the Edit button if you’re editing the settings for a weblog.
Basic preferences
In the Weblog Name section, type the name of your weblog. This is just for your benefit—you don’t have to match it up with what TypePad thinks is the name of your weblog. You could type anything here, even nonsense.
The Home URL should point to the home page of your weblog, including the http:// part and a trailing slash, as in http://example.typepad.com/blog/.
You can type your username and password, or let NetNewsWire ask you for them when it needs it. It’s up to you. It’s also up to you whether or not you want to store your password in the keychain.
Your username and password are the same as when you login to your site via your web browser.
Here’s a screen shot of a sample configuration:

RPC preferences
In the System popup menu choose TypePad. This will set the APIs for you automatically—you don’t have to do anything there.
Note: before continuing, it’s important that you’ve made at least one post via the regular browser-based interface to TypePad. If not, the next step won’t work.
Click the Autofill button. NetNewsWire should fill in the RPC URL and Blog ID for you.
Your settings will look similar to the below screen shot, though your Blog ID will be different.

You could move on and set the Posts preferences. They’re a matter of taste and don’t actually affect whether or not NetNewsWire works with TypePad. The defaults are best for most TypePad weblogs.
Notes on editing
The URL field is not active for TypePad weblogs, since TypePad doesn’t support sending a separate URL.
However, you may notice that when posting from the news reader to the weblog editor that the URL field will be filled out. Even though the URL field is disabled, you can still copy from the URL field and paste into the body.
