NetNewsWire 5 for Mac Help

Using syncing accounts with NetNewsWire

In addition to the On My Mac account, NetNewsWire can also sync your feeds and articles with third-party feed aggregating services.

Using a feed aggregator service allows you to use multiple apps across different platforms, but keep a single subscription list. The service handles fetching articles and keeping track of read status for you.

Note: In NetNewsWire 5.0, Feedbin is the only sync service supported. Additional services will be supported in future 5.x releases.

Adding a syncing account to NetNewsWire

To add a syncing account to NetNewsWire, start by opening NetNewsWire Preferences.

  1. Choose NetNewsWire → Preferences… (⌘-,) from the menu bar
  2. Select Accounts
  3. Click the + button or select your service from the list
  4. Enter the email or username and password for your account and click Create

NetNewsWire will then add the account and sync your feeds.

You can find the sync account feeds in the NetNewsWire sidebar, after Smart Feeds and any On My Mac feeds.

Changing synced account information

Changing sync account name

The name of your sync account will be the name of the service by default. You can change this name, which is especially useful if you multiple accounts on the same service. You can even use emoji. 🐝

Updating sync account credentials

If you change any information for logging into the sync account – user name, email address, password – you may need to update the credentials stored in NetNewsWire.

  1. Choose NetNewsWire → Preferences… (⌘-,) from the menu bar
  2. Select Accounts
  3. Select your account from the list
  4. Click the Credentials button and enter your updated login information
  5. Click Update to verify and save your new credentials
